Mudslide and flash floods effected 700 families, 2000 peoples in Tambon Nam Phai, Nam Pad district, Uttaradit province, Thailand.
This area (Nam Pad fault zone) was situated in potential landslide and flash flood area surrounded by a mountainous valley, slopes, waterways Many villages are still at risk from floods and mudslides, there were no early warning messages sent out to people living there.
The flood and mud also damaged a bridge linking the villages to the main road.
Proposed Solutions: 1) Better warning network (Geotechnical engineering, Kasetsart University) 2) Check dam construction by used tires (TOYOTA CSR) 3) Innovative Plastic Gabion fabricated from Biaxial geogrids to protect the pillars (CeTeau)
